Stuff the Bus August 14!

——————————————-

AN INVITATION FROM THE UNITED WAY…
united_way_logo_2

Even though it is still summer, many families are already preparing for next year. The United Way of Santa Cruz County recognizes that “back to school” preparations can be very difficult for many families who are struggling financially. It is for this reason we have once again chosen to partner with the Santa Cruz Office of Education and the Write Start Backpack project.

Since its inception in 1989, the Write Start Backpack project has provided over 11,500 backpacks filled with school supplies to children in need in Santa Cruz County.

In 2009, the 1st year of Stuff the Bus, the community donated enough materials for backpacks for 60 students. This year the goal is 10x that — 600!!!

MORE DETAILS!

On Saturday, August 14th from 10AM-4PM, a large yellow school bus will be parked in front of Palace Art & Office Supply in Capitola on 41st Avenue. This bus will be ready and waiting for community members to stuff it with backpacks and school supplies for our local children in need.

Debi Parola on the Wall in Capitola

Debi Parola…

I spent my childhood and teenage summers in Santa Cruz. My love of the beach and the small town atmosphere lead me to move to Santa Cruz in 1977. I take pictures to capture “A Slice of Life”.

My ocean sunsets are local Santa Cruz County beaches and the beautiful Island of Maui. For the last 10 years my passion has been skim boarding photography. I travel to all the skim boarding contests in California to capture this exciting sport. Lately my emphasis has been on wildlife photography in and around Santa Cruz County.

I create photo greeting cards and calendars, which can be viewed on my website. Cards are available at Marini’s, Bookshop Santa Cruz, Capitola Book CafĂ©, and the Craft Gallery. You can also find them online at www.debiparola.com
